The Ideal Value Chain by John Sheridan.
How much are you going to do yourself, and how much are you going to use
partners?
I'm trying to get you to look beyond traditional assumptions of what creates
value for organizations, to look at managing intangible resources. I'm also
trying to distinguish the physical people, the employees, who come and go, from
their knowledge, which too often leaves the company with them. Learn more:

Traditional
Training Fades In Favor Of E-Learning
Internet economy demands a more flexible training approach
By John Berry
Training, loosely defined as any enhancement to an employee's skills delivered in a classroom by an instructor, is becoming an antiquated way of looking at how employees acquire knowledge and build skills.
Around the world, faculty members are constructing online classrooms. For example, Dan Kies has HyperTextBooks at the College of DuPage. EduCause is developing the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative, an even closer cousin to Ricci Street based on open standards. I am keeping my eye on it to make sure that Ricci Street stays compatible.
Generically, Ricci Street is similar to an instructional management system (IMS). It shares many of the features of close cousins from the proprietary courseware world such as Lotus's Learning Space and Asymetrix's Toolbook.
Other popular instructional management software includes Blackboard, WebCT Educational Technologies, and WBT Systems' TopClass. Advertising-supported Electronic Communities gives its Palace 3D software to colleges, free of charge, as does CommonPlaces with MyBytes, its webtop collection of course and community-building tools.
The Role of the
Online Instructor/Facilitator
by Zane L. Berge
In many instructional situations, to be successful there often needs to be more discussion occurring among the students than the one way transmission of facts and information from teacher to student generally allows. Online instructors need to be aware that this can make some students and faculty profoundly uncomfortable and take positive steps to build both confidence and communicative competence in online instruction.

Listen in while HR professionals discuss their profession. As publicly accessible mailing lists, the activity on these lists varies. Stick with them a while -- that is, lurk by reading and not posting -- before you decide how useful they might be.
